Last Saturday, a rodeo in Oregon took a turn for the worse when a bull jumped a fence and into the crowd, injuring three people.
As the rodeo drew to a close, the bull reportedly jumped six feet over the fence. As many as 5,500 people attended the sold-out event.
“Officials said two people suffered minor injuries from direct contact, but social media videos showed “The video shows the woman being thrown into the air and then trampled by the bull. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to a leg injury but was released shortly thereafter,” the report said. Rodeo attendee Daniel Smithers captured the horrific incident on video.
“I filmed him completely going over the gate and disappearing,” she said, “and then there was this big pause in the zone where he came out, and people immediately started waving their lights again, like they didn’t really know what to do.”
Despite the experience, Smithers said she would “definitely come back” to Sisters Rodeo.
“We know it’s common to walk into a situation like this, whether it’s an amusement park, a rodeo or a zoo, you’re always accepting risk,” she said.
Not so bullish!! A bullish man named “Party Bus” jumped a fence, chased a woman, flipped her upside down in the air and stomped her. Another man met a similar fate.

Rodeo pick-up men were able to recapture and subdue the bull within minutes after it jumped the fence, Sisters Rodeo spokesman Brian Witt told KOIN 6 News there are strict protocols in place to deal with these types of incidents, adding that these types of incidents are “extremely rare.”
“We were able to open the proper gates and the bulls were able to exit the spectator area and then stay right there,” he said.
“You might hear about one of these things a year in the industry,” he added, “but this is the first time we’ve seen it.”
Smithers told Coin 6 News that the rodeo should consider installing sirens that could alert people if such an incident were to occur.
“At the beginning of the event, there’s a siren or something that goes off and says, ‘If you hear this, stop whatever you’re doing,'” she said. “We’d been listening to the announcer all night, so at that point, when I was having a conversation with someone, I don’t think I was paying attention to what they were saying.”
