Although Elon Musk emerged onto the political scene with Government Efficiency (DOGE), quickly becoming a major target for Democrats in Congress and their campaign efforts, he was once seen as a supporter of former President Barack Obama and other Democratic members.
On April 15, 2010, Elon Musk was depicted alongside President Barack Obama during the president’s visit to Cape Canaveral, Florida, where he toured the “SpaceX launch pad.” Presently, SpaceX stands out as a frontrunner in space exploration and has recently been lauded for its role in maintaining the International Space Station.
“By the mid-2030s, we hope to be able to send humans into orbit around Mars and return them safely to Earth, with ongoing efforts for landing on Mars.

“However, I want to restate this – I aim to emphasize this. Deep space exploration entails creating revolutionary propulsion systems and other cutting-edge technologies. Therefore, I provide resources to surpass these challenges.

“Obama sounds just like [DOGE]!!” Musk wrote on March 13th.
In 2022, Musk declared his retreat from the Democratic Party, purchased the platform X, formerly Twitter, and with Donald Trump backing in 2024, he gained greater visibility in both business and political realms.
“Previously, I supported Democrats as they were (mostly) compassionate parties. But they have transformed into a faction of division and animosity, so I cannot endorse them and will vote for Republicans,” Musk infamously tweeted in May 2022. He contributed to Obama’s campaigns in 2008 and 2012.
Recently, Musk has been subjected to a barrage of derogatory attacks from left-wing activists and Democrats, drawing comparisons to the late Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. In February, Squad “Member Councilman Ayanna Pressley from Massachusetts described Musk as “the spawn of Nazi nepotism, a godless, lawless billionaire chosen by no one.”
Former progressive Representative Jamal Bowman (D-N.Y.) labeled Musk as “inept. He’s a thief. He’s a Nazi. People don’t trust him.” This onslaught prompted Musk to respond, “I’ve had enough. I’ll deal with the lawsuit.”
Besides verbal assaults directed at Musk, there have been at least “80 incidents of arson or vandalism targeting Tesla vehicles and 10 acts of vandalism against Tesla dealers, charging stations, and facilities throughout the US and Canada.”

In the recent special election, Musk played a significant role in financially supporting and rallying for Republican Supreme Court candidate Brad Schmiel, who ultimately lost to Democrat Susan Crawford. At the same time, Musk’s association with President for Doge has seen both of them campaigning together.
“Donald Trump and Elon Musk have faced defeat in Wisconsin. We will continue to hold them accountable,” minority leader Hakeem Jefferies (D-N.Y.) posted on X on Tuesday evening.
Obama’s office chose not to comment on the matter.
