DOLTON, Ill. — Mayor Tiffany Henyard has been attending rallies dressed as a movie gangster, and residents say she is playing the role and will retaliate if they don’t comply with her orders. This was revealed by the Post.

Sources said that while wearing an ensemble for a meeting, Henyard, 40, signaled for a DJ to play Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money” when she interrupted her statement. He said he walked around the room whispering to do this.

Lawrence Gardner, 57, told the Post Friday that he closed his trucking business after Henyard refused to renew a $3,500 political donation.

Gardner said Henyard and Dalton Village Police Chief Lewis Lacey has blocked dozens of local businesses from operating for failing to make required payments.
The newspaper heard similar stories from a number of local residents who claimed to have been harassed by police acting on Mr Henyard’s orders.
Dolton City Administrator Kiana Belcher also said former Dolton Police Chief Robert Collins admitted to being asked by the mayor to target people.
Henyard’s office did not respond to The Post’s request for comment Friday.
Trustee Belcher also said that Mr. Henyard hated working in the mornings.
“She doesn’t wake up until after 10 o’clock. I’ve known her for a long time and she’s not a morning person. She’s a late night person,” she said.
Former Dalton Mayor Riley Rogers, who lost to Henyard in 2021, questioned her extensive security detail and alleged spending.
“Some people find it appealing to have a lot of police officers around and to be escorted or driven around,” he says. “I have never been in charge of a security detail as mayor.”
Like other local residents, Mr Rogers said Mr Henyard’s cash outflow was shocking.
“I tried to stay away from money,” he said. “It’s not your money, so you can’t use it like a piggy bank.”
Henyard met with President Biden during a recent visit to the White House, but critics allege he has refused to investigate the town’s finances.

Vocal community member Sherry Britton, 55, said she voted for Henyard, but now wishes she hadn’t.

Britton speculated that Henyard may have mental issues and compared her to rapper Kanye West.

Former trustee Valeria Stubbs, 56, has known Mr Henyard for 15 years.

“I’ve never seen anything like this in my life,” she said. “And I’ve been involved in the political arena ever since I was 18.”
Dalton, a small village of about 20,000 people just south of Chicago, is reportedly $5 million in debt.
