Tiger Woods and former wife Elin Nordegren reunite to celebrate son Charlie choosing to play golf in college

Charlie Woods had both of his parents by his side Friday as he celebrated his commitment to play college golf. His father, Tiger, and mother, Elin Nordegren, attended the event at Charlie’s high school.

Charlie, whose father has won 15 major championships, announced in February that he plans to play golf at Florida State University. “Excited to announce my commitment to play golf at Florida State University — go Noles!” he wrote at the time.

Tiger congratulated him, saying he was proud of Charlie as he began a new chapter in his life.

The appearance was a rare public one for Tiger, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight since his arrest in March. He was charged with DUI after a car crash. Police later reported finding hydrocodone pills in his pocket. It was his second DUI arrest in less than a decade.

Before field sobriety tests, Woods told officers he had undergone seven back surgeries and more than 20 operations on his leg. He also said he took prescription medication.

According to an arrest affidavit, Martin County sheriff’s deputies noticed signs they believed indicated impairment. They described Woods as sweating heavily, moving slowly and appearing lethargic. An officer said his eyes looked bloodshot, glassy and extremely dilated during the tests.

Woods later announced that he was seeking treatment. Nordegren was reportedly concerned following his arrest.

It remains unclear when he will return to golf. Woods has not played since the 2024 Open Championship. After his arrest, he said he hoped to compete at the Masters in April, but he ultimately missed the 2026 season.
