Tiger Woods has announced that he is ending his 27-year partnership with Nike, the world's largest sportswear brand.

On Monday, Tiger Woods, widely known as a professional golfer, announced that he is ending his long-standing partnership with Nike after 27 years, ending one of the most famous brand collaborations in the history of professional sports.

“Over 27 years ago, I was fortunate to begin a partnership with one of the most iconic brands in the world,” Woods wrote to X. , can go on forever. Since turning professional in August 1996, Woods has worn Nike Swooshes from head to toe. His 15 wins in major championships, his 82 wins on the PGA Tour, and multiple comebacks from injuries and personal setbacks were all part of the partnership.

For more than a quarter of a century, Woods' classic Sunday uniform of black hat, black pants and red Nike shirt has become representative of men's professional golf.

Woods' contract with Nike was reportedly once worth up to $20 million a year. Over nearly three decades, he has signed numerous contracts with the company, the most recent of which is his 10-year deal worth about $200 million that started in 2013.

According to several polls conducted over the years, Woods is one of the most famous athletes in the United States, with more than three times the name recognition of the average athlete.

The survey also found that while public opinion has declined since his heyday, sports fans still have a more optimistic view of him than the average athlete.

Nike posted a farewell statement on Instagram following Woods' announcement: “One hell of a round, Tiger.”

“Tiger, you challenged competition, stereotypes, convention, old school thinking. You challenged the entire golf world. You challenged us. And most of all, yourself. And that challenge We are grateful for this,” Nike added.

Woods also answered several people's questions about whether there will be a new chapter with Nike in the future.

“People will ask if there will be a next chapter,” Woods wrote. “Yes, there is indeed a next chapter. See you in LA!”
