Tiger Woods’ Genesis Invitational ended Friday with the par-4 seventh hole.
After Woods hit his drive into the fairway, jumped into the cart I contacted the rules person and informed them of my withdrawal from the competition. He was said to have been unwell, according to Mark Dasbabec of the PGA Tour.
Despite this, Woods looked restless during the first six holes and stumbled along after his first birdie, struggling to maintain momentum. He bogeyed the fourth par-3 and fifth par-4, then par-putted the beautiful sixth par-3, his final hole of the day.
Woods’ withdrawal from the second round came a day after hitting an uncharacteristic shank on the par-4 18th hole, which Woods said was caused by “back spasms.”
Woods hasn’t completed a 72-hole event on the PGA Tour since tied for 45th at last year’s Genesis Invitational. He had to miss his final start on the PGA Tour, the 2023 Masters.
