Tiger Woods was cheering on his 15-year-old son, Charlie, at the U.S. Junior Amateur on Monday, with his injured right leg fully exposed.
Woods, 48, was seen wearing shorts in the Oakland Hills in February 2021, exposing scars from a horrific car accident that nearly cost him his right leg.
Photos taken on the course showed that he was not wearing his usual right foot sleeve.
Woods underwent multiple surgeries for injuries to his lower right leg, including open fractures of the tibia and fibula, suffered in the single-car crash in California.
His tibia and fibula were stabilized with rods, while bone injuries in his foot and ankle were stabilized with a combination of screws and pins. Woods said in a statement at the time..
The 15-time major champion recalled being hospitalized for three weeks and facing the possibility of having his leg amputated.
“There was a time when it wasn’t 50/50, but I wasn’t sure if I would be able to walk out of the hospital on one leg. [kept it]”I wanted to see if my hands were still there.” He told Golf Digest: November 2021.
“So even if you’re in the hospital, [then-girlfriend] Erica [Herman] and [friend] Rob [McNamara] “Throw me something. Anything you want, just throw me something.”
Charlie, who shot 82 to finish 12 over par on the Oakland Hills North Course, looked frustrated after the 18th hole, running his hands through his hair.
This comes after his father announced he was taking a break from competitive golf after failing to qualify for the British Open at Royal Troon.
Woods will resume play in December at the Hero Challenge in the Bahamas before pairing with Charlie at the PNC Championship in Florida.
