Tiger Woods “humbled” by Bob Jones Award, receiving USGA highest honor

Tiger Woods has earned the USGA’s highest honor at the age of 48, becoming the 2024 Bob Jones Award recipient. The governing body announced it on Saturday, letting the world know that Sinek Hills will host the men’s and women’s U.S. Open in 2036.

“Bob Jones was a pillar of our game because of the integrity of his play. To receive the award that bears his name, I am honored to join the many who have gone before me and continue his legacy. I am truly humbled by this opportunity,” Woods said in a statement. “It is especially fitting to receive this honor from the USGA, and it means so much to my career and the game of golf as a whole.”

Woods’ 82 career wins on the PGA Tour and 15 major championships place him in a special class in the history of professional golf. He has redefined the modern game since his arrival.

Tiger has been through many ups and downs, overcoming physical and personal adversity the only way he knows how: mental strength and tenacity.

Woods won three consecutive U.S. Junior Amateurs from 1991 to 1993. Tiger then won three straight U.S. Amateur tournaments from his 1994 to his 1996 with an overall USGA Match Play record of 42 wins and 3 losses.

No one can forget his 15-stroke win at the 2000 U.S. Open and his shocking Torrey Pines playoff victory despite a broken leg to win the 2008 U.S. Open title. Dew.
