Tiger Woods jumps up odds board after solid Thursday showing

Don’t look now, but Tiger Woods is creeping up the odds board for the Masters Tournament.

Woods went 1-under through 13 holes during a rain-shortened first round on Thursday, jumping to +6,600 at BetMGM Sportsbook to win the 2024 green jacket.

The golf legend entered the tournament with a huge long shot (+12500) and won for the sixth time at Augusta.

He is tied for 17th place with 14 other players heading into Friday’s play.

Woods will be playing in his first tournament since withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational in February due to influenza and missing the Players Championship in March.

He is aiming for a record 24th consecutive Masters appearance.

Before teeing off Thursday, Woods was +110 to qualify for the tournament at BetMGM, +900 to finish in the top 10, +350 to finish in the top 20 and + to finish in the top 5. I was getting 2200.

Woods played the final five holes of the first round early Friday morning and is scheduled to begin the second round later that day.

Even after his best days, bettors prefer to put their money behind Woods.

Woods was BetMGM’s biggest liability before the tournament, winning 5.4 percent of tickets and 4.4 percent of winning handles.

Scottie Scheffler, who entered the tournament as the historic favorite, remains at the top of the odds board (+150, BetMGM) at 6 under.

At 7 under, Scheffler is trailing only Bryson DeChambeau, who has the next-best odds (+600) to win the tournament.

Reigning Masters winner Jon Rahm was one of the biggest decliners of the day, rising from +1200 pre-tournament to +5000 to win his second consecutive green jacket.
