Looks like Tiger Woods needs a nap.
Woods was in Las Vegas for the TGR Foundation’s charity poker night with poker legend Phil Helmuth, and fans reacted to a video Helmuth posted on Friday of a sleepy-looking Woods and video game streamer Ninja.
Woods’ face appeared swollen and he appeared to struggle to deliver the lengthy statement, leading some to wonder if Las Vegas might be the winner for the 15-time major champion.
“We’re very proud of Tiger at the TGR Foundation. We’re going to have a Tiger poker night.” Helmut said in a video posted to X.“We’re hoping to raise a million dollars, maybe two million dollars. It’s a really great event.”
After telling Woods how proud he was of him, Helmut asked him about his favorite charity moment.
“These are the stories that kids come back and tell,” Woods says. “They’re the first generation to go to college. Their parents say you’re never going to college, their grandparents say you’re never going to college, it’s a waste. And all of a sudden they’re thriving in college, they’re going to Stanford, Harvard, MIT, Yale, doing amazing things in amazing places. One of our daughters…she’s one of the directors that landed the Mars rover.”
The video also includes scenes of Ninja and Woods joking about Ninja’s golf struggles, with Woods saying that watching Ninja play is “boring” and Helmut saying that he and Woods “talk trash.”
Fans seemed concerned about Woods’ demeanor during the roughly 90-second clip.
“Damn I hope Tiger is okay…” responded another X user.
“Tiger looks drunk!!” Another user replied.
“Tiger just glowed up,” another person speculated.
The all-time great golfer pleaded guilty to a DUI case in 2017 after he was found to have five drugs in his system: Vicodin, Dilaudid, Xanax, Ambien and THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.
Woods accepted a special exemption to play in the U.S. Open at Pinehurst because his five-year exemption from winning the 2019 Masters is expiring.
Woods is playing on courses in North Carolina this week, with the tournament starting on June 13th.
