Tiger Woods, Nike Golf officially part ways as the GOAT hints at ‘next chapter’

You will no longer see Tiger Woods wearing the famous Nike “Swoosh.”

On Monday, the 15-time major champion announced his relationship with Nike Golf on social media. agreed to break up.

“Over 27 years ago, I was fortunate to begin a partnership with one of the most iconic brands in the world,” Woods said in a post about X.

“The days since then have been filled with so many wonderful moments and memories. If I started naming them, I could go on forever. Phil Knight's passion and vision led to this… I would like to personally thank him and the Nike employees and amazing athletes I have had the pleasure of working with over the years as we forge this partnership between Nike and Nike Golf.”

Woods has worn Nike apparel for most of his professional career, including all 15 major titles and 82 wins on the PGA Tour.

He also used Nike equipment for a significant portion of his career. Their relationship culminated at the 2005 Masters. donated The par 3 16th hole.

The ball rolled down the slope, slowed down as it approached the hole, and stopped momentarily on the edge of the cup, with the Nike logo clearly visible to everyone watching. The ball somehow ended up in the hole, giving Woods a huge birdie. It also produced the most unusual relay call in golf history.

“Oh wow!!! In your life!! Have you ever seen anything like that?!” exclaimed veteran CBS announcer Vern Lundquist.

Despite this, the company discontinued its golf manufacturing division in 2016.

Since then, Woods has used Bridgestone golf balls while relying on TaylorMade clubs. He relied on these two companies for his 2019 Augusta National victory.

However, last month's PNC Championship was the last time Woods wore Nike gear during tournament play.

No one knows what he will wear in the future. But Woods assured that another sponsorship deal is in the works.

“People are going to ask, is there going to be a next chapter?” Woods added.

“Yes, there is indeed a next chapter. See you in LA!”

Woods plans to try his hand at his tournament, the Genesis Invitational, in February. The event is held annually at his club in Los Angeles' Riviera Country Club, and is the course where Woods made his professional debut in 1992.

More than 30 years later, the 2024 Genesis Invitational will be a new beginning for Woods. Golf fans should be used to seeing him wearing something different.
