Tiger Woods' private plane arrives in Switzerland following DUI arrest

Tiger Woods’ private jet landed in Zurich, Switzerland, early Friday morning, but it’s expected that the 15-time major champion will seek medical care following a car accident and subsequent arrest for suspected drunk driving. Reports suggest that Woods may not have been on the plane, which is noteworthy since Zurich is home to exclusive treatment centers like Paracelsus Recovery and Kusnacht Practice, known for their privacy and high costs.

It was indicated that Woods’ jet would be heading back to the United States later that afternoon.

This news follows a Florida judge’s recent approval of Woods’ request to travel outside the U.S. to avoid media attention while seeking treatment.

In a statement earlier this week, Woods mentioned stepping away from golf to focus on his health after the incident in Florida last Friday.

He acknowledged the seriousness of his situation, expressing the need to prioritize his recovery. “I am committed to taking the time necessary to return to a healthier, stronger, and more focused place,” he said, also requesting privacy for himself and his family during this challenging time.

On March 27, Woods was involved in a rollover crash near his home. During the incident, he scored a zero on a breathalyzer test and stated he had taken prescription medications earlier. Although the specific medications were not listed in the affidavit from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, two hydrocodone pills were found in his possession.

Witnesses noted that Woods appeared to be sweating, with sluggish movements, bloodshot eyes, and dilated pupils during questioning. In a curious interaction, he mentioned having called President Trump before being handcuffed, which adds an interesting layer to the situation. Notably, Woods is currently in a relationship with Vanessa Trump, who has shown her support publicly.

Woods has pleaded not guilty to the DUI charge. His recent legal troubles come on the heels of extensive surgeries, including lumbar disc replacement in October and Achilles tendon surgery the previous March. His return to golf at the TGL Finals last month marked his first participation since 2024.

This incident also marks a significant point in Woods’ history, as he faced a serious car crash in February 2021 that nearly led to the loss of his right leg. In 2017, he was similarly arrested for DUI after being found asleep in his vehicle, later pleading guilty to reckless driving and entering a treatment program for prescription drugs.
