Tiger Woods suffers another devastating injury that has long been watching him by the sidelines.
The 49-year-old announced Tuesday afternoon that he suffered from a ruptured left Achilles and had surgery to repair it on Tuesday morning.
“As I began to strengthen my training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles. “This morning, Dr. Charlton Stacken from the hospital performed a minimally invasive Achilles tendon repair due to the ruptured tendon.
Woods quoted Stacken in a statement saying the surgery “goes smoothly,” saying he hopes for a “full recovery.”
Woods says he's gone home.
While playing in the TGL event recently, he retreated to the first scheduled PGA Tour at Genesis invitational last month after the death of his mother Kurchida.
Woods has been hampered by back and leg injuries in recent years.
This is a developing story. Please check for updates.
