Tiger Woods didn’t play well at the Masters, but he shared a moment with the legend before it was all over.
Longtime CBS anchor Vern Lundquist, 83, attended his final Masters call-up at Augusta National, and Woods made sure to greet him on the 16th hole.
Lundquist famously cited some of Woods’ greatest moments as a professional golfer, including Woods’ legendary chip shot on the 16th hole. During the 2005 Masters.

The tournament ended with Woods winning his fourth Masters title.
Woods also addressed Lundquist’s call on that chip shot earlier this week.
“He has a great ability to engage an audience, explain a situation, and wax poetic about it,” Woods said. Mr. Lundquist said:. “He just draws the audience in…I grew up watching that, I grew up listening to Verne.”
Unfortunately for Woods, the 2024 Masters show was nothing like that.
Woods finished the tournament at 16 over, a career-worst Masters round at 5 over, and tied for 60th place.

Woods is five years removed from his last major title since the 2019 Masters, which he won by one stroke at 13 under par.
Woods, who turns 49 in December, has won 15 majors in his career, still three wins shy of Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18.
He withdrew from last year’s Masters, and this weekend’s August National was his most recent appearance in a major tournament.
The 2024 Masters will be Lundquist’s 40th year covering the event for CBS, and his last broadcast.
