Tiger Woods’ son, Charlie, makes valiant effort at PGA Tour qualifier; falls short

Tiger Woods’ son Charlie participated in Thursday’s PGA Tour Cognizant Classic qualifying.

This was his first attempt at qualifying for the PGA Tour, and since he is Woods’ son, many people had high expectations for him. There was someone on the PGA Tour as well. record his arrival.

Unfortunately, after an eventful round, he shot a 16-over 86.

Charlie is a 15-year-old who is absorbing a huge learning experience at this event. It would be unfair to expect anything special.

He started the day with a par, but then had back-to-back bogeys. There was another par on the 4th, but that’s where things went wrong.

He made a double bogey on the par-5 5th hole. Charlie then made a 12 on the par 4 seventh hole. It is difficult for anyone, let alone a young player like Woods, to make it past the qualifying rounds.

Charlie persevered and his valiant efforts were rewarded.

Woods made six consecutive pars on the final 11 holes of the round and finished 4 over. Not bad considering who he’s playing against and what he’s playing for.

It’s not quite that time yet, but maybe he’ll get even better. But golf fans who want to see Charlie step into his father’s shoes have quite a bit to ask for. The wise approach is to just observe and hope that he can turn golf into his career.

If the grit and determination the young Woods showed through Thursday’s 18 holes is any indication, he might accomplish it.
