The latest promotion for Tiger Woods’ Sunday Red clothing line doesn’t feature golf at all, but college football.
Stanford quarterbacks Ashton Daniels and Justin Lamson are featured in the new ads.
It makes sense that Woods’ brand first approached Stanford University since that’s the school he attended.
Daniels and Lamson modeled new “training gear” featured on the Sun Day Red website.
No financial details were released about the two quarterbacks’ NIL contracts, but it’s still a great way to show that these garments aren’t just for golfers.
This company is a lifestyle brand, so it should be available to anyone who wants to buy.
Woods’ clothes are more expensive. Crew-neck sweaters for training cost $200, hoodies start at $135, shorts are $100, and T-shirts are $75. None of this training gear is cheap.
I bought a crewneck and a hoodie from the Pines collection and although the quality is great it still felt pricey. I also have a few hats from the same collection and love them.
Not everyone can afford this brand, but it’s great that Sunday Red is working with college athletes. NIL is at the forefront of college sports right now, and having a new brand come in will only increase the attention. They could have the athletes wear the gear, and someone from outside could buy it because they like the look.
Obviously, Stanford University would be the first choice, since that’s where Woods went to school, but it will be interesting to see if the brand expands beyond that school, perhaps even to a national level across all sports and outfitting the entire golf team.
Additionally, I will continue to preach that Sunday Red needs women’s wear to make an impact in the golf fashion industry. With more female athletes on the rise, it’s even better to see them breaking into the field.
