Tiger Woods finished the first round at Valhalla at 1 over, putting him in good position for this weekend’s PGA Championship.
However, two blowout holes early in the second round ended his hopes of playing on Saturday and Sunday.
Woods missed out on qualifying for the PGA Championship by seven over.
He hasn’t finished four rounds in this tournament since 2020, and only twice in total since 2013.

The expected cut line for Woods at the end of the second round was 1 under.
Tournaments have been bad for Woods since he finished second in 2018. He didn’t qualify for 2019 despite winning the Masters two months ago. He then tied for 37th in 2020, did not compete in 2021, and withdrew after three rounds in 2022. He also missed last year.
Woods made par on the first hole, but things took a turn for the worse on the second par-4. The pitch shot went into the bunker in front. He then airmailed the green into the backside trap. He barely made it on No. 5, but suffered a triple bogey with two putts.
He three-putted for bogey on the par-3 third, but after getting stuck in more sand, he hit another triple on the par-4 fourth.

Scottie Scheffler performs well in second round of PGA Championship, hours after arrest
Woods showed bright spots with seven birdies and eight birdies, the latter of which brought him just inches away from a hole-in-one. But that was the only success he had that day. On this day, he hit bogeys on 11 and 12 and was 7 over, but he made up for it with a birdie on the par-5 18th hole.
He finished the day with a 6-over 77, nearly 24 years after winning the PGA title at the Louisville course.
This is the 13th time he has missed the cut in the majors, nine of which have been since 2015. He also withdrew twice.
This comes after Woods finished in last place at the Masters. He carded an 82 in the third round, his lowest score at Augusta.

The tournament has been in the spotlight since Scottie Scheffler was arrested early Friday morning while traveling to Valhalla.
Scheffler was taken into custody at 6:01 a.m. and released just two and a half hours later, arriving at Valhalla another 30 minutes later, 56 minutes before tee time.
Scheffler was booked into the Louisville Department of Corrections late Friday. He was charged with second-degree assault on a police officer (a felony), criminal mischief, reckless driving, and failing a traffic-directing officer.
He then shot a 5-under 66 and arrived at the clubhouse two strokes behind the lead.
