TikTok star Eva Evans had relationship problems before apparent suicide: Sources

New York City-based TikTok star Eva Evans suffered from relationship issues before she apparently committed suicide this week at the age of 29, her shocked family has reportedly told police.

Law enforcement officials said Evans, whose real name was Eva Baumgardner, had been depressed for several days before her apparent suicide on Saturday, a friend who discovered her body told police.

The social media creator was found by a friend hanging herself with a scarf in her Brooklyn apartment, with several cans of White Claw, vials of white powder and what appeared to be a suicide note scattered nearby. That’s what it means.

Officials said the friend apparently stopped by Evans’ home after not hearing from him for a day.

Eva Evans was found dead in her Brooklyn apartment by a friend on Saturday.

The friend told police he didn’t think Evans would kill himself, officials added.

Officials said Evans’ mother later told investigators that her daughter had suffered from depression in the past and was having serious relationship problems at the time of her death.

Evans has amassed a large following on social media with her videos about fashion and her experiences as a woman in her 20s living in New York City.

She is also active as an actress and appeared in the Prime Video series “Club Rat.”

News of her death drew many tributes, including actress Julia Fox, who called Evans a “New York icon.”

“I always looked at her like a sister, and I knew she looked up to me,” Fox said. “She died. She was very young. She still had a lot of work to do in her life. But she lived her life to the fullest.”

Evans’ own father died by suicide in 2018, and she wrote about her experience in a letter to mental illness awareness group Don’t Mind Me.
