TikToker Is Shocked and Gains New Appreciation After His Girlfriend Explains Periods to Him

TikToker Learns About Menstruation

A TikTok creator recently went viral after sharing his shock over learning the ins and outs of menstruation. The lighthearted boyfriend perspective charmed many as he discovered that menstruation involves much more than just bleeding, prompting his followers to chip in with more information.

His amusing reactions and tributes to women were heartwarming, even if it’s something he probably should have been more aware of.

A Grown Man’s Realization

Connor, known as @connorsmellsbad, caught attention with over 11 million views on TikTok after discussing what he learned from his girlfriend about menstruation. He understood there was bleeding involved but was clueless about the biological processes behind it.

“I just watched a 3D representation of what happens inside a woman’s body during her period, and I want to say: I’m sorry,” he remarked. “That seems pretty rough. It looks pretty brutal.”

It’s not surprising, really. Many cisgender men are often quite uninformed about periods—while they know there’s blood, they don’t understand how contractions in the uterus help shed the tissue lining.

The hormones involved can lead to various symptoms, like bloating, headaches, dizziness, mood swings, fatigue, and even digestive issues. For some, cramping can be quite severe.

“I had no idea the whole system basically self-destructs,” Connor added.

Unexpected Discoveries

Clearly, the U.S. education system doesn’t provide enough information to boys about menstruation. In the comments, many women eagerly filled Connor in on more details. He was understandably horrified when they mentioned digestive issues related to menstruation.

“I just looked up what period poops were since that’s all I saw y’all talking about,” he mentioned in a follow-up video. “Period poop this, period poop that.”

“What I’m finding out is, it’s basically a demonic bathroom experience. You women are troopers.”

His latest video tackles what some call “period jellyfish.” Occasionally, a larger clump of tissue is expelled that, apparently, resembles jellyfish legs. Connor started by mimicking the comments urging him to explore this topic.

“Honestly, I thought, ‘jellyfish? What’s that got to do with periods?’ But I looked it up—and almost threw up,” he expressed.

Despite his goofy demeanor, Connor genuinely seems interested in understanding the challenges his girlfriend faces each month. Yet, it’s reasonable for women to expect that men take their experiences seriously without needing flashy visuals.

“Why do we have to prove everything?” one commenter, @kortneymadzzz16, questioned.

“We don’t need sympathy. We need more respect,” added another user, @royapakzad.

The nature of internet discourse can be chaotic, but the key takeaway seems pretty clear.
