Tim Cowlishaw criticizes ESPN during the last episode of “Around the Horn”

ESPN’s “Around the Horn” aired its last episode on Friday, concluding nearly 23 years of broadcasting. In the final moments, contestant Tim Kaurish shared his thoughts, expressing gratitude for the opportunity he initially hesitated to accept back in 2002. He also mentioned that ESPN is now focusing on hiring former athletes instead of traditional journalists, a comment he made during that final episode.

The show featured four journalists who discussed ongoing sports issues. However, ESPN seems to be shifting away from this format, favoring programs led by ex-athletes. Some notable personalities on the network include Pat McAfee, Jason Kelles, Kendrick Perkins, and Ryan Clark.

Reflecting on their time together, Kaurish spoke about the unique experiences they shared over the years, sometimes feeling like impostors every time they stepped into the studio. He hopes that future shows will bring just as much enjoyment and happiness to viewers.

As of now, ESPN has not provided any details about what will fill the timeslot left by “Around the Horn.”
