Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) announced Friday his candidacy for chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC).
Scott said In a written statement:
Let's try it! I'm running for NRSC chairman because two years of Republican policy is good, but four years of success under Donald J. Trump is even better.. In other words, his entire four years as president would produce low inflation, secure borders, and safe streets, leading to a generation of American prosperity. With Donald J. Trump in the White House and Republicans in control of the U.S. Senate, we will protect our majority in 2026 and create opportunity for all Americans.
Republicans will now control the Senate, and the South Carolina senator will also serve as chairman of the Senate Banking Committee.
Mr. Scott represented President-elect Trump's campaign, campaigned with every major Senate Republican candidate, and raised money for every Republican candidate on the ballot.
Senate Republicans, regardless of political affiliation, praised his appointment as NRSC chair.
“We took back the U.S. Senate in 2024, and there is no one more trustworthy to protect our majority in 2026 than Tim Scott,” said Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), the outgoing NRSC chairman. ” he said.
“Tim's inspirational message, fundraising record, and vision for the party make him the perfect partner for President Trump. Together, they will protect and grow the Republican majority. Tim. There is no one better than Scott,” said Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), chairman of the Senate Republican Conference.
“To protect the majority and grow the party, we need the vision and resources to compete everywhere, which is why I am confident Tim will lead the NRSC through 2026,” said Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida). State) explained.
The Senate Republican Conference will hold a leadership election on November 13th.
