Senator Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) married his fiancée, Mindy North, in a ceremony in South Carolina over the weekend.
The couple exchanged wedding vows on Saturday at Seacoast Church in Charleston, about eight months after the South Carolina senator proposed to Nose, an interior designer. The Post and Courier reported..
“Tonight we vowed to cherish each other and our marriage for the rest of our lives. Mindy, you make me the happiest man in the world. I love you.” Scott wrote about X on Saturday.
Scott posted two photos from the ceremony and shared a verse from the Bible, Matthew 19:6, which reads, “So then they are no longer 2 but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let man not separate.”
As reported by The Post and Courier, the special occasion was attended by close family and friends, as well as former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Senators Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, John Thune (R-SD), James Lankford (Okla.) and John Barrasso (R-Wyo.).
Trey Gowdy, a Fox News host and former South Carolina congressman who co-authored a book with Scott in 2018, also attended the event, according to The Post and Courier.
According to Scott, the two met at church and became close through Bible study, and then started dating. During his short presidential campaign last year, Scott often refrained from commenting on his private life, but in September he revealed that he had a “special someone.”
Trump didn’t mention North by name at the time, simply calling her a “lovely Christian girl,” and she made her first public appearance two months later, onstage with Trump at a presidential debate in November.
Speculation had been rife about the senator’s love life even before he revealed he was dating late last year, with some wondering whether he might become the first unmarried president in more than a century before wrapping up his campaign for the White House.
Former President Trump, who received Scott’s endorsement earlier this year, congratulated Senator Scott and North on social media.
“My longtime friend, Senator Tim Scott, and his beautiful bride, Mindy North, were married today in the great state of South Carolina. Congratulations! You have a wonderful future together. God bless you both!” Trump wrote. The truth of society Saturday.
