Time Magazine’s 2025 Person of the Year: A Collective of AI Architects

Time magazine has recently revealed its Person of the Year for 2025, and it’s not a single individual.

Instead, the title goes to a group of “AI architects,” featuring prominent tech figures like Jensen Huang, Mark Zuckerberg, Lisa Su, Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Demis Hassabis, Dario Amodei, and Fei Fei Li. This shift seems aimed at sparking interest, though some aren’t particularly invested in the magazine’s recent direction. Observing this from a predictive market perspective, it’s compelling, especially since AI is at the announcement’s core.

In a discussion on Blaze TV, host Stu Bruguiere remarked that while the magazine’s claims were intriguing, they also carried a somewhat unsettling tone.

According to the article, “The recurring warnings that advanced AI could pose existential risks have considerably diminished. Those who raised such alarms are now often dismissed, becoming fodder for jokes within the tech community. It appears that the cautious voices are out of the mainstream.”

The article emphasizes the role of figures like Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang, and mentions how humanity seems to be speeding towards a future filled with advanced automation, without much consideration for the associated risks.

Stu expressed his concerns, noting, “I think that’s quite a concerning path. After spending so much time absorbed in our devices, does anyone really think that’s healthy?”

It also highlights humanity’s long-standing ambition to create thinking machines. While we’ve appreciated their achievements, such as defeating chess champions or analyzing proteins, there’s also discomfort surrounding their potential implications for our humanity.

The piece goes on to point out that leaders in tech, like Sam Altman and Elon Musk, have cautioned against rushing the development of such capabilities, predicting possible unforeseen disasters. Once focused on responsible AI use, the dialogue has now shifted toward hastily implementing AI technologies, raising eyebrows about the future.

Stu pondered, “Isn’t that how every technological horror story begins? Let’s dive in without considering the repercussions. It’s not unlike the plot of Jurassic Park.”
