Jennifer Dulos, a 50-year-old mother of five from Connecticut, disappeared on May 24, 2019, and her body has never been recovered.

Dulos' 52-year-old estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, and his girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, were charged in her death in 2019. Fotis died by suicide shortly after her indictment, and Troconis' criminal trial begins Thursday.

“It has been more than four years and seven months since Jennifer Farber Dulos was murdered and missing,” Jennifer's family said in a statement Wednesday, according to FOX 61. “He and his friends have waited patiently, knowing that justice will be served.”The process proceeds slowly and carefully [sic]especially considering the disruption of the global pandemic.

“We remain deeply grateful to the State Attorney’s Office, the Connecticut State Police, and the New Canaan Police Department for their tireless dedication to this case and related ongoing criminal investigations.”

The statement added that as Troconis' trial begins, it is “critical to remember who is at the center. Jennifer's five children lost their mother and, as a result, their parents.”

Troconis, now 47, has maintained his innocence and said he had no idea what was going on when Fotis disposed of various trash bags from Troconis' truck after Jennifer disappeared. She also claims she knows nothing about the written chronology of their activities that day, which police obtained as evidence.

June 2017

Jennifer Dulos has filed for divorce from Fotis Dulos, the father of her five children, after 13 years of marriage to the successful real estate developer.

According to the New York Times, Jennifer discovered during divorce proceedings that her husband had been having an affair with Troconis for about a year.

That same year, Jennifer moved into a rented house in New Canaan, where she and her estranged husband decided to send their children to private school, the Times reported.

February 2018

Amid the couple's divorce, Jennifer Dulos' family sued Fotis Co., Ltd., alleging it owed about $2.5 million in money it borrowed to buy and redevelop homes in Avon and New Canaan, according to Hartford court documents. He is suing Mr. Dulos.

Jennifer drove back to her home in New Canaan, where Fotis allegedly attacked her and attempted to clean up the crime scene. Police said the man then drove away with her body.

That same night, surveillance footage obtained by police showed Fotis and Troconis, traveling through Hartford, dumping trash bags into multiple dumpsters throughout the state capital.

Authorities recovered discarded garbage bags, including items containing the DNA of Jennifer, Fotis and Troconis. Some items had blood on them.

June 2019
