Timothée Chalamet’s Knicks Celebration and Oscars Comments

Timothée Chalamet recently made waves while attending an NBA championship celebration for the New York Knicks.

During a game at the Frostbank Center in San Antonio, the “Dune” star took out his phone to snap pictures of the Knicks players. In a video, he can be heard saying, “This is much better than the Oscars,” as noted by ESPN.

Caught up in the excitement, Chalamet exclaimed, “Come on, baby! The Knicks are the champions, baby!” He was present on the sidelines during Game 5 of the NBA Finals, although he didn’t have his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, with him.

The 30-year-old actor has been a vocal supporter of the Knicks throughout the 2026 NBA Playoffs, expressing enthusiasm as they secured their championship victory after a 53-year wait. Following the win, he celebrated with the team and participated in the postgame locker room festivities.

Chalamet’s remarks about the Oscars come just a few months after he lost the Best Actor award to Michael B. Jordan for his role in “Sinners.” According to Hollywood insiders, Chalamet’s perceived arrogance may have influenced his chances at the award. One expert remarked that his campaign was overshadowed by a sense of desperation and that his fashion choices were more fitting for a comedian than a serious contender.

Sources indicated that Chalamet’s pursuit of excellence may not have resonated well with everyone. His controversial comments about ballet and opera at a CNN town hall earlier this year drew backlash as well. Chalamet had expressed a disinterest in these art forms, which led to criticism from figures like former ballet dancer Misty Copeland. She reminded him that the roots of his success in acting are tied to these traditional art forms.
