The Titans are expressing their regret over a disappointing start to the season.
Tennessee, still seeking its first win after five games, is openly recognizing its struggles while continuing to back head coach Robert Saleh.
Titans CEO Burke Nihill issued an apology to fans on Friday, acknowledging their frustration given the team’s 0-5 record, and shared his thoughts with ESPN about the current situation.
“I personally feel a sense of stability,” Nihill mentioned in an interview on Friday. “I believe that Mike Borgonzi and Robert Saleh will ultimately turn this team around and bring back competitive football. The train is on the tracks; it just hasn’t gathered speed yet, but it will.”
He emphasized the organization’s commitment, saying, “I can confidently say there is a belief in Mike and Robert within the organization, and they have all the support they need to get this train moving faster.”
Nihill went on to apologize directly to the fans for the team’s winless performance this season.
“The first thing I would say to our fans is that we’re sorry,” he told ESPN. “Everyone in this building feels a sense of grief. We are fans too, and we feel responsible for delivering. I know we’ve let our fans down because football is meant to be enjoyable.”
Saleh, who previously coached the Jets and was last a defensive coordinator for the 49ers, took over as head coach of the Titans this offseason.
“We’re facing a lot of challenges,” Saleh stated. “But if we handle this adversity correctly, we’re going to see significant growth, and I assure you that the sun will shine on this organization eventually.”
The Titans currently join just two other NFL teams without a win, with a point differential of -51 and averaging under 12 points per game.
Quarterback Cam Ward, the first overall pick in 2025, is feeling the heat to perform amid the team’s turbulence.
When a reporter asked Ward if he had become accustomed to losing, he replied, “No, I’m not a loser. The record may suggest we are right now, but you must endure some tough times to earn victories.”
Ward added, “We tackle this challenge day by day. If you look at the track record of everyone in our locker room, we’ve all won games at a high level, and we’re eager to achieve that again in the future.”
The Titans will face the Colts this Sunday, looking to avoid dropping to 0-6.
Tennessee has struggled in recent seasons, finishing with records of 3-14 in both of the past two years, and has not made it to the playoffs since 2021.
