Lorenzo Carter Announces Retirement from NFL

The Tennessee Titans shared that veteran edge rusher Lorenzo Carter has decided to retire, informing the team just a day before training camp begins. This news was delivered by Titans general manager Mile Borgonzi.

Carter, 29, had signed a one-year deal with the Titans as a free agent ahead of the 2025 season. “He informed us yesterday that he would be retiring,” Borgonzi mentioned, expressing hopes for Carter’s future.

Carter’s NFL journey spans seven seasons, starting when he was drafted by the New York Giants in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He played four seasons with the Giants and then moved to the Atlanta Falcons, where he spent the last three years of his career.

Throughout his time in the league, Carter started 62 of his 96 games. Interestingly, he only began two of his 15 games as a rookie but became a regular starter thereafter.

During his four years with the Giants, he recorded 153 total tackles, along with 14.5 sacks, one interception, 15 pass deflections, five forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries. After his tenure with the Giants, he signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Falcons, starting all 17 games that season before agreeing to a two-year, $9 million deal for the next season.

Now, without Carter, the Titans still have seven edge rushers on their roster. They include Arden Key, Dolemant Jones, Femiora Dejo, Jalen Harrell, Alligay, Titus Leo, and Desmond Evans.
