Trump Administration Focuses on Combating Fraud
In an exclusive conversation with Breitbart News, Attorney General Todd Blanche emphasized that the Trump administration is actively “fighting hard” against fraud.
White House Correspondent Nick Gilbertson pointed out that the vice president often mentions two primary victims of fraud. “One, you know, the people whose programs are being stolen from that actually need that money; and then two, you know, the taxpayer in general,” he said.
Blanche nodded in agreement, stating, “The vice president could not be more right. The generosity of the American people, the taxes that you pay, the taxes that I pay, that Americans pay, those go to programs. We’ve decided as a nation to support those in need, whether it’s senior citizens, young people, or individuals with disabilities. That’s a significant amount of money, but, unfortunately, there are many who exploit the system.”
Despite this troubling trend, Blanche assured that efforts are underway to eradicate fraud. “So, to the taxpayers, we are fighting hard. We have established a new fraud division. The vice president is engaged in this issue daily. President Trump frequently discusses it, and we’re seeing billions of dollars either not being distributed or being recovered if they’ve already gone out,” he noted, highlighting some early success.
Blanche reflected on how fraudsters have historically evaded consequences, but change is on the horizon. “For a long time, fraudsters got away with their schemes, thinking it was safe to commit fraud with minimal chances of being caught. Now, we have a lot of prosecutors and inspector generals involved, so even if you steal just $1, you should be quite worried about getting caught,” he cautioned.
He continued, “And we’re serious about this. We’re not dismissing fraud cases based on amounts. Instead of thinking, ‘Oh, you only stole $1,000,’ we’re now saying, ‘No, you can’t steal from the American taxpayer, regardless of whether it’s $1,000 or $500 million.’ This approach is why we’re seeing various cases, both large and small.”
Blanche cited alarming examples of fraud, including a hotel project in Ghana financed by taxpayer money, and fraudsters flaunting luxury cars like Mercedes-Benz and Ferraris. “These examples are shocking and should resonate with taxpayers,” he stated, commending Vice President JD Vance for his commitment to tackling this issue.
