Todd Blanche receives extensive support from law enforcement before AG hearing

Todd Blanche's confirmation in the Senate encounters opposition from GOP due to his position on January 6

The office of Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, has announced strong support for Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche as he undergoes the Senate confirmation process to officially replace Pam Bondi.

Grassley’s office mentioned that support comes from a variety of groups, including 670,000 sworn police officers, 300 families of victims murdered by illegal immigrants, and 100 bipartisan U.S. attorneys and Justice Department officials. Notably, they emphasized endorsements from 23 state attorneys general.

In a statement, support cited Blanche’s proven ability to deliver tangible results in tackling issues like violent crime, drug trafficking, and human trafficking. It calls for the Senate to expedite his confirmation as the United States Attorney General.

Grassley specifically pointed out Blanche’s vigorous enforcement tactics during his tenure as acting attorney general, a role he stepped into after Bondi’s resignation in April. Bondi’s firing by President Trump was attributed by some critics to her inadequate handling of the Epstein case, where expectations for transparency were set high but not met.

Since his appointment, Blanche has redirected the Justice Department’s efforts back toward domestic security. Right after taking charge, he established the National Fraud Enforcement Agency that focuses on reducing violent crime, enhancing drug seizures, and prosecuting gangs and cartels.

Now that President Trump has formally nominated Blanche, groups like American Border Stories (TABS), representing families affected by violence from illegal immigration, believe his leadership will be critical in continuing the work started under his acting role.

TABS asserted that, given the current challenges from violent crime and illegal immigration, the nation needs decisive leadership and a sharp focus on operations. Their statement urged the Senate Judiciary Committee to thoroughly evaluate Blanche’s nomination and advance it.

The Fraternal Order of Police echoed similar sentiments in its own statement, stating that Blanche’s leadership will be vital in maintaining a focus on public safety and providing robust support to law enforcement, who risk their lives daily.

A group of 78 former Justice Department officials likewise praised Blanche, emphasizing his commitment to returning the department’s focus to law enforcement rather than political matters. They remarked that he understands the department’s mission is to deliver justice rather than cater to political interests.

In another statement, supporters underscored Blanche’s courage and knowledge, which they believe will serve the Department of Justice well. They urged the Senate to confirm him swiftly.

Blanche is expected to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday morning, with outside witnesses set to provide testimony on Thursday.
