A toddler and his grandfather’s bonding moment in a video mashup shared on TikTok appears to be spreading smiles across social media, with the video garnering nearly a million views.
Affectionately known as “Bop,” the grandfather has a close bond with his 2-year-old grandson, Brooks VanHoy.
Brooks’ mother, Shelby VanHoy, told Fox News Digital in an email that she moved from New York City to North Carolina to be closer to family and that the bond between her son and his father, Mike VanHoy, has become much stronger.

His mother, 33, who works in social media and interior decorating, said his father comes over every Thursday morning to spend time with Brooks while she works.

“Bop is retired, but since we moved back to North Carolina he comes over every Thursday morning for ‘Bop Day,'” she said.
She added: “As soon as Brooks saw the Bop truck on his front porch, he started jumping for joy and yelling, ‘Bop’s here!'”

In TikTok videos, Brooks is repeatedly seen running to the front door to greet Bopp when he comes to visit.
“Excitement is always contagious,” Van Hoy said.

“They are best friends,” she added. “I think their friendship brought a lot of joy to my father’s life.”

Van Hoy said Brooks was given the nickname “Bop” by his father after he tried to teach him how to pronounce “pop.”
“Bop is here to stay, and it’s probably always going to be bop,” she added.

Hundreds of TikTok users commented on Van Hoy’s video of his son, with many calling it “adorable” and “special.”
“These are life moments!” one user wrote.
“Is it foggy in here?” another commented.
“As someone who grew up seeing my grandfather regularly, this story brought me to tears. I hope you cherish the time you spend together,” wrote another user.

Van Hoy said seeing Brooks and “Bop” together reminded her that she made the right choice by moving closer to family.
