Tom Brady admits he ‘screwed up a lot as a parent,’ says it ‘sucks’ to be his son

Tom Brady candidly revealed that he “made a lot of mistakes” as a parent.

speak to a crowd with Fortune Global Forum On Tuesday in New York City, the seven-time Super Bowl champion opened up about fatherhood and admitted he doesn't always get things right when it comes to parenting.

“All the parents in the room know that being a parent is probably the hardest job for all of us, and we make a lot of mistakes, and as a parent I “I’ve made a lot of mistakes,” he said.

“That's why I don't want people to think I'm a parenting expert, because I'm definitely not.”

Still, Brady said he strives to be “reliable and consistent” for his “three wonderful children.” He added that he supports his children in “whatever they want to do in life.”

The retired NFL legend, 47, has a 17-year-old son, Jack, with his ex-girlfriend, actress Bridget Moynahan.

He also has two children with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen, and is currently pregnant with their third child.

The ex-girlfriend, who split in 2022, has a 14-year-old son, Benjamin, and an 11-year-old daughter, Vivian.

During the interview, Brady admitted that being “Tom Brady's son in a lot of ways” is “the worst,” according to the video. Obtained by TMZ.

“There are a lot of challenges that I faced as a child…my children will naturally face their own challenges,” he said. “And I'm going to support them just like I would my parents. And I'm going to learn along with them in the process.”

Elsewhere, he praised his parents Garin and Thomas Brady for encouraging him to chase his dreams from an early age rather than shutting them down.

“The blessing my parents gave me was when I was a big-time kid, backup quarterback on the freshman team. They never said, 'Hey, don't do that.' he said. It's going to be very difficult. Let's try something different. Consider another backup plan. ”

“They said, 'You know what?' Go for it. Whatever you want to be, go for it…That's probably my parenting style,” he added.

In fact, Brady said that's how she approaches raising her son, Jack, who is already 6-foot-5 and dreams of becoming a basketball player.
