Tom Brady is proving he still has what it takes as a retired NFL star at age 46 by breaking the 40-yard dash time he set as a 22-year-old rookie.
Brady wasn’t the most notable player in 2000 when he was trying to join the elite club of NFL players. The Patriots selected him in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft, a long way off at 199th overall. However, it didn’t take long for him to start proving himself on the field. By 2001, he was already a Pro Bowler and continued his long run of honors as the top quarterback the following season.
At the 2000 NFL Combine, Brady ran a 40-yard dash of 5.28 seconds, a far cry from John Ross’ 2017 NFL dash record of 4.22 seconds.
Brady, 22, may never have imagined he would set the league’s 40-yard dash record, but he certainly set plenty of other records.
But Brady broke the 24-year-old’s record with runs of 5.18 and 5.12 seconds this month.

The NFL was rightly impressed by the feat and posted a video of the younger Brady and the older Brady sprinting side by side.
46 years old @TomBrady I ran a faster 40-yard dash than I ran at the combine over 20 years ago.

Tom Brady will be inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 2028, when eligibility is determined.
