Tom Brady beats his NFL combine 40-yard dash time 24 years later

Tom Brady may no longer be an active NFL player, but at age 46 he accomplished something he couldn’t do in his 20s.

The former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback aimed to beat his 40-yard dash time at the 2000 NFL Scouting Combine, and it appears he accomplished it.

In a workout video posted to NoBull’s X account.Brady talked about how he ran a 5.28 second dash before being drafted in the sixth round by the Patriots and said he will do everything in his power to break that record.

“This is not a true measure of a guy, let me just put it bluntly,” Brady said as he drove to training.

“I’ll give you 100 percent effort,” he later added before the run.

Before embarking on the sprint, the former signal caller had a phone conversation with billionaire St. John’s University graduate Mike Lepore. I bought the management rights to No Bull last summer..

“Are you sure you want to do this?” Lepore asked. “So, okay, you haven’t been an athlete in over a year.”

“I have to do this,” Brady replied with a smile.

And Brady broke the record, clocking 5.18 seconds on one stopwatch and 5.12 seconds on another.

“After 24 years, redemption will be spelled TOM,” he wrote to X.

Brady’s feat was accomplished on the same day as a Penn State defensive lineman. Chop Robinson ran the 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds.the edge rusher who ran on the first day of the combine had the highest mark.

In a subsequent post, Brady set lofty goals for himself for his next appearance.

“Sub 5.00 next year. Level up,” he wrote to X.

Brady obviously wasn’t the quickest during his NFL career, but he did rush for 1,123 yards in 23 seasons, averaging 3.4 yards per game.

However, Brady’s lack of speed didn’t affect him much during his career, as he won seven Super Bowls and was a three-time MVP.
