Tom Brady, LeBron and Jeter Unite at Fanatics Fest
At Fanatics Fest in New York City, a significant gathering of sports enthusiasts and well-known athletes took place. CEO Lance Fensterman mentioned that icons like Serena Williams and David Beckham were also present. The event, expected to draw around 200,000 attendees over four days, showcases considerable growth compared to the previous year.
This event is poised to be a memorable one, especially with so many celebrities gathered in Manhattan. The excitement kicked off with the debut of Raising Cane’s activation at the Javits Center on Thursday.
In an entertaining twist, Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, and a dunk tank filled with 500 gallons of Raising Cane’s renowned sauce took center stage. Brady, known for his incredible accuracy, didn’t disappoint.
As Gronkowski jumped into the sauce, Brady and Raising Cane’s owner Todd Graves celebrated the moment with the audience, marking a fun beginning to Fanatics Fest.
In an interview with Graves, he shared how the idea for a dunk tank filled with Cane’s Sauce originated, reminiscing about Brady’s NFL days and the memorable toss that led to Gronkowski’s splash.
“I didn’t initially consider a Cane’s Sauce dunk tank, but teaming up with Fanatics has been fantastic,” Graves remarked. He highlighted his long friendship with Michael Rubin, emphasizing their mutual support and shared passion for sports.
“Collaborating for Fanatics Fest wasn’t just a simple arrangement; it was more about coming together to brainstorm,” he noted. The concept of the dunk tank emerged from discussions with Michael Ratner, who suggested the idea of Brady dunking Gronkowski.
Graves saw the occasion as legendary, believing it would be remembered in Cane’s history. Reflecting on the brand’s origins dating back to its first restaurant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he couldn’t have anticipated such star power almost 30 years later.
“Our team is super excited. Having Gronk and Brady together is perfect,” Graves added.
The playful chemistry between Brady and Gronkowski delighted the crowd. In a humorous moment, Brady tossed Cane’s chicken fingers into Gronkowski’s cup of sauce, building up to the final throw.
Despite Gronkowski’s playful banter, those familiar with Brady knew the end result. His initial attempts were almost teasing, intentionally hitting above the target. But then, he nailed it, splashing Gronkowski in sauce—a memorable explosion that everyone talked about afterward.
As Gronkowski laughed while wiping sauce from his face and Brady shared a chuckle, Graves expressed gratitude for the unforgettable experience they created together.
Graves, proud of Cane’s growth—which includes 100,000 Crew Members across 1,000 locations—reflected on his journey and the thrill of such events. He expressed his deep appreciation for his team, his customers, and the joy of creating moments for them.
“We love what we do, and this is all about bringing fun to our customers,” he concluded.
