Tom Brady Clones Late Dog Lua

Tom Brady has shared that his new dog, Junie, is actually a clone of Lua, a pit bull mix that he lost in 2023.

The retired quarterback explained that he used a blood sample collected before Lua’s passing to facilitate the cloning process through Colossal Biosciences, a biotech firm Brady is invested in. This was the dog he and ex-wife Gisele Bündchen shared with their kids.

“I love animals. They mean the world to me and my family,” said Brady. “A few years back, I collaborated with Colossal to utilize their non-invasive cloning technology. We did a simple blood draw on my senior dog before her death.”

Bündchen and Brady, who divorced in 2022 after 13 years together, adopted Lua during their marriage.

The 45-year-old supermodel had first announced Lua’s passing in a December 2023 Instagram post that featured pictures of their children, Benjamin and Vivian, along with the family pet.

Brady also has an 18-year-old son, Jack, from his earlier marriage to actress Bridget Moynahan.

“This has given our family a second chance to have our beloved dog back,” he said. “We’re excited about how Colossal and Viagen’s technology can assist families who’ve experienced the loss of a pet while also aiding in the conservation of endangered species.”

Bündchen expressed her sorrow, stating, “Little Lulu, our guardian angel, has departed for heaven. She will live forever in our hearts. We miss her so much already! #unconditionallove RIPLua 💔.”

Brady previously shared memories with Lua, stating, “We love you Lua, rest in peace.” Recently, it was reported that Colossal Biosciences acquired Viagen Pets and Equine, an expert in animal cloning.

Interestingly, Viagen has cloned pets for other celebrities, including Barbra Streisand’s dog Samantha and Paris Hilton’s dog Diamond Baby.

In personal news, Bündchen welcomed a son with her boyfriend Joaquin Valente in February.
