Tom Brady takes in primetime NBA matchup before calling first Thanksgiving game in Dallas

Before Tom Brady played his first Thanksgiving game in the broadcast booth, he decided to spend Thanksgiving night playing a different sport.

Brady was spotted mingling at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday night during a primetime game between the Dallas Mavericks and New York Knicks. Brady was seen shaking hands with Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd and others.

Brady was watching on the court in Dallas as the Mavs defeated the Knicks 129-114 to move to 11-8 on the season. New York lost 10-8.

Brady is scheduled to appear by phone with Kevin Burkhardt during the NFC East game between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants on Thursday night at 4:30 p.m. on FOX.

Brady said earlier Wednesday that he was “eager” to call the game, even though it pits two of the worst teams in a storied NFL division.

Coach Mike McCarthy's Cowboys finally stopped their losing streak last week in a close game against the Washington Commanders. After Washington's Terry McLaurin scored a miraculous touchdown off Jaden Daniels with just seconds left in the game, kicker Austin Seibert missed the extra point and the game went into overtime.

Meanwhile, the Giants have lost six straight games, including a blowout loss to Tommy DeVito, who was making his first start since Daniel Jones was released, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at MetLife Stadium last Sunday.

Jones officially signed with the Minnesota Vikings and will likely be their backup at some point before the playoffs, but was released after going 2-8 this season. The Giants are already looking to the future with six games remaining on their schedule.

DeVito is dealing with a forearm injury, which makes it difficult for him to play in a short week. If DeVito is unable to play, Drew Lock, who the Giants paid $5 million to be Jones' backup this offseason, would be the next choice.

And while Brady may not be playing anymore, he understands that his career choice means being away from his family on holidays.
