Tom Cruise reveals surprising new appearance in 'Digger' trailer

Tom Cruise’s Transformative Role in New Film

Tom Cruise is experiencing a significant shift in his acting career.

On Monday, Warner Bros. unveiled the trailer for “Digger,” directed by Alejandro Iñárritu. This role is different from what fans are used to seeing from the 64-year-old actor in recent years.

Cruise portrays Digger Rockwell, an oddball oil tycoon whose risky actions jeopardize the world and lead him on a formidable quest to save humanity.

According to the film’s synopsis, Digger aims to prove himself a hero to humanity before his catastrophic decisions lead to total destruction.

The trailer starts off with Digger in distress over his sick cat, quickly escalating to anger at an employee’s suggestion to halt a major project. This project turns out to be a staggering $18 trillion disaster, setting the stage for a high-stakes narrative.

Fans took to social media to express their reactions to Cruise’s unexpected transformation for this role. Posts ranged from, “Salutes to the Glowdown King,” to comments about his quirky new look reminiscent of earlier characters he portrayed.

“Digger” marks a departure for Cruise, as it’s his first leading role outside of blockbuster franchises “Top Gun” and “Mission: Impossible” in quite a few years. Iñárritu, known for his Oscar-winning works like “Birdman” and “The Revenant,” directs the film, slated to hit theaters on October 2nd.

At a recent Q&A event in Los Angeles, Cruise shared his excitement about the project and his collaboration with Iñárritu. He remarked on the unique challenge the film presented, noting that they’ve created something truly original.

The cast features a range of talents, including Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, and Emma Darcy among others.

For those interested, Cruise took to TikTok over the weekend to promote the film, where he swiftly gained over 1.4 million followers.
