Tom Hanks to Portray Abraham Lincoln in “Lincoln In The Bardo”

Tom Hanks is set to take on the role of Abraham Lincoln in the eagerly awaited film “Lincoln In The Bardo.” This marks the first instance where the acclaimed actor will portray a U.S. president, as reported by Deadline.

The film, produced by Starburns Industries, will blend live-action and stop-motion animation, drawing inspiration from George Saunders’ bestselling book. Interestingly, Hanks will also serve as a producer through his Playtone label.

This adaptation aims to delve into the personal moments of Lincoln’s life, focusing particularly on his relationship with his late 11-year-old son. It promises to explore themes of love, compassion, and the capacity for grief, featuring a mix of both historical and fictional characters.

Directed and produced by Duke Johnson, who is also an Academy Award-nominated filmmaker, the project sees Paul Young and Devon Young Rabinowitz collaborating as producers for Starburns Industries. Additionally, Steven Shareshian and Aaron Mitchell will serve as executive producers alongside Saunders.

Notably, Saunders’ novel, which was a New York Times bestseller, won the esteemed Booker Prize in 2017. As of now, further casting details for “Lincoln In The Bardo” remain under wraps.

Filming hasn’t yet commenced, and there’s no confirmed release date at this point.
