Tom Homan indicates a major change in the Minneapolis operation

Tom Homan, the border czar, announced significant changes regarding federal operations in Minneapolis, indicating that there have been notable developments. He reviewed the administration’s initiatives in the city, particularly pointing out that 3,364 unaccompanied migrant children went missing during the administration of former President Joe Biden. Homan also acknowledged the collaborative efforts made with local and state officials, expressing gratitude towards Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. He stressed, “We have a lot of work to do across this country.”

In light of recent circumstances, Homan declared the end of Operation Metro Surge, stating that federal personnel have started to withdraw from Minneapolis. “I proposed, and President Trump agreed, to end this surge operation,” he mentioned. Homan noted that significant reductions in personnel have already begun this week and will proceed into the next. He added that federal workers previously assigned to Minneapolis will either return to their original roles or be reassigned to undertake efforts elsewhere.

“There is a considerable amount of work remaining throughout the nation to address public safety risks that should not exist in this country,” Homan commented, emphasizing a commitment to fulfilling President Trump’s promises regarding robust border security and mass deportations. He clarified that law enforcement officers involved in this operation would either resume their duties or be deployed to different locations.

Additionally, Homan addressed and dispelled some misunderstandings regarding ICE’s activity in Minneapolis. “ICE did not arrest anyone inside the hospital during this Surge operation,” he asserted. “We haven’t arrested anyone inside the elementary school. We haven’t arrested anyone inside the church.” However, he mentioned that these locations were still considered for future operations.
