Fox News commentator Tomi Lahren on Wednesday called on Republican Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio to apologize for comments he made about childfree women in an effort to help former President Donald Trump win reelection.
Vance also mocked Democratic women, including Vice President Kamala Harris, calling them “childless catty women” during a 2021 interview on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” co-founder of The Daily Caller. Lahren, speaking on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” said, “The best thing Vance can do is apologize and say it was a joke.” (RELATED: “You guys love Viktor of Hungary and PM Orban”: Cooper and CNN guest clash over Vance’s “childless cat lady” comments)

“I want Donald Trump re-elected. I don’t think these self-destructive mistakes are helpful. They shouldn’t be part of the debate. We should be talking about issues that matter to the American people and that people can vote to change,” Lahren said. “You can’t vote to make someone have one child, or have five, or not have children. It’s completely irrelevant. It’s a personal decision. As a conservative, maybe a libertarian-leaning conservative, I don’t think someone’s status as a mother should come into this debate.”
“I think the best thing that vice presidential candidate and Senator J.D. Vance can do at this point to get out of this situation is to simply apologize and walk away from this by saying that he was joking and that he sees people who don’t have children as the same as people who have five children,” she added. “Neutralize them just like Donald Trump neutralized the national anti-abortion debate. Donald Trump … was very adamant about it and really neutralized the debate. J.D. Vance needs to do that, but if he doesn’t, we’re just going to see more clips and footage of him saying similar things, which isn’t going to help the Trump campaign.”
Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade said Monday that explaining Vance’s “cat lover” comments would attract attention and “probably cost him money.”
“The thing is, when you’re explaining, you’re usually losing. All they want is for him to sit there forever explaining his comments. He’s done a ton of interviews and podcasts and he’s done a ton of promotion for ‘Hillbilly Elegy’ and the movie and the book. So they’re going to bring up all of that,” he said.
Vance Protected He condemned the comments on Sunday, saying the political left had taken his remarks “extremely” out of context.
Major news networks have repeatedly described the Trump-Vance pairing as “bizarre,” with MSNBC and CNN using the word more than 160 times each on Monday alone, according to a report by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
