Tommy Devito proposes to his girlfriend Michayla Anja

A former fan favorite from the Giants has found some big news this year.

Perhaps there’s more good fortune on the way.

Quarterback Tommy DeVito of the Patriots and his girlfriend, Michaila Anja, shared on Wednesday that they’re engaged. They confirmed this joyous update in an Instagram post the following evening.

DeVito, who is 27, proposed to Anja while dressed casually in a white shirt, beige pants, and sneakers, while she looked lovely in a white dress. The romantic moment took place with a view of the Atlantic Ocean at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. They celebrated afterward at a steakhouse.

Anja had previously shared a photo of herself watching a Patriots game from a suite at Gillette Stadium back in October, and they also posted a picture of themselves together from a break in March.

DeVito first hinted at his relationship with Anja in a social media post on April 1st. He hails from Livingston, N.J., and gained fan adoration in 2023 when he became the starting quarterback due to injuries to Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor.

He had a respectable season, ending with a record of 3-3 as a starter, accumulating 1,101 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions. His Italian roots even contributed to his nickname, “Tommy cutlets,” leading to a local “Cutlet Mania” at a deli, and his family bringing chicken cutlets to tailgates at MetLife Stadium.

After starting just two games in 2024, he was released by the Giants last summer. He later joined the AFC Champion Patriots, yet didn’t play during their Super Bowl run. This offseason, though, he secured a two-year contract extension worth $7.4 million.

Ahead of the Super Bowl, DeVito reflected positively on his time with the Giants but acknowledged he’s moved on. “That was cool and fun, but let’s face it, it’s Jersey, New York,” he mentioned at the Super Bowl opener in 2026. “That team was one of the most special teams of my life, and I love it every time I come back. But this is a different version of myself and I’m happy with it.”
