Tommy Fleetwood caddies stepson past Challenge Tour cut, beats out pros

Tommy Fleetwood played father to son-in-law Oscar Craig this week in his first start on the Challenge Tour.

The seven-time DP World Tour winner caddied for Craig’s debut and helped lead him to 2 under through 36 holes.

Playing as an amateur, Craig made his debut with a 3-under 69 on Thursday and a 1-over 73 on Friday.

Craig birdied the 4th, 8th and 18th to finish the first day bogey-free.

Friday’s round was a tough one for the young player, but he recorded three birdies and four bogeys.

The 17-year-old was the only amateur to compete in the UAE Challenge, which took place over the weekend at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

fleetwood bragged about his stepson on social media after the round.

“Oscar, your hard work and talent earned you a place in your first Challenge Tour event! I’m so proud to watch you excel in this high-quality field. Golf is amazing.” Fleetwood wrote.

The British players commented in a video posted by the Challenge Tour, both smiling. He pulled him into a giant hug and couldn’t stop smiling as they walked off the green.

They celebrated with family and friends. His mother, Claire Fleetwood, was also there to hug him.

Fleetwood is no stranger to the Challenge Tour. He became the youngest player to reach the top of the rankings at the age of 20 after winning the Kazakhstan Open in 2011.

He won the first DP World Tour event, the Johnnie Walker Championship, held at Gleneagles in 2013.

Fleetwood’s caddying duties will continue for the next two days as Craig has secured his spot for the weekend. Although he doesn’t take home any money, playing all four days at a professional golf event is quite a feat.
