Tommy Fleetwood, unlike his Ryder Cup teammate Jon Rahm, won't be going to LIV Golf.
In fact, LIV Golf offered Fleetwood “tens of millions of dollars” to join the Saudi-backed circuit, James Corrigan said. telegraph paper.
Nikolaj Højgaard, a 23-year-old star from Denmark, also received an offer to join LIV Golf, but like Fleetwood, he turned it down.
LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman and Rahm are now reportedly eyeing British player Tyrell Hatton, who is currently ranked 15th in the world. Mr Corrigan said Mr Hutton's campaign had not yet received a formal proposal, although some believed the two sides had held discussions.
This is not the first time the two sides have worked together.
Nevertheless, LIV Golf's 2024 season begins in Mayakoba, Mexico in two weeks. But Rahm's team, Region XIII, doesn't yet have a full roster. According to Flashing It by X, Legion XIII currently configured Rahm, Kieran Vincent from Zimbabwe, and 20-year-old Caleb Surratt from the University of Tennessee. Four players make up his one LIV team, so one spot remains open.
So LIV Golf executives, along with Rahm, are aggressively recruiting other golfers to fill out the roster. Time is of the essence and the clock is ticking.
However, LIV Golf gives you access to unlimited funds. With the $700 billion coffers of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) funding the league, LIV executives will no doubt find players to fill the void.
The question here is: Who?
It won't be Fleetwood or Hojgaard, but with all three players in the United Arab Emirates this week for the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, it could be Hatton.
The young Dane is currently at 7 under, with Heigaard playing the best of the trio through 36 holes. Fleetwood is at 5 under after posting rounds of 69 and 70, while Hatton is two shots back at 2 under.
Cameron Young leads by 3 at 13 under.
