Tony Romo ‘didn’t realize’ Steelers had two running backs

Tony Romo made some strange comments during Monday's CBS broadcast of the Bills-Steelers game, but one of the more bizarre things the former quarterback said was that Najee Harris and Jalen Warren It was a surprise for Pittsburgh's running back tandem.

Romo seemed surprised by Harris and Warren's ability to be threats on the ground, and discovered for the first time what Warren was actually capable of during a wild-card matchup in Buffalo.

“I'll tell you when we put the tape on…we know how well Harris has played, but we didn't know they had this much of a one-two punch,” Romo said. Told. “I didn’t see them during the games this year, but [Warren] Hit the hole consistently. He's quick, aggressive and has that instinct. This is an outstanding unit. ”

Considering Warren has been a threat all season and added an element to Pittsburgh's passing game, it seemed like an odd time for Romo to learn how effective the Steelers' run game was.

Warren had 61 receptions for 370 yards during the regular season, the Steelers' third-most receiving yards, and also had 784 rushing yards on 149 carries.

In the playoffs, Warren had 38 yards on eight carries in a loss to the Bills, while Harris rushed for 37 yards on 12 carries.

But Romo's surprise at the Steelers' run game wasn't the only comment that caught viewers' attention during the telecast.

Viewers teased him about the awkward comment Romo tried to discuss Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but the sentences that came out sounded weird.

“What a day. It's fitting that the day is named after Martin Luther King Jr.,” Romo said.

Soccer fans also took note: Romo obviously jumped. It looked like the Bills might have an interception in the first quarter, but Buffalo already led 14-0.
