The 2025 NCAA Volleyball Tournament is just a week away, and now there are only 16 teams left. For many that have completed their seasons, it’s time to start managing rosters.
On Sunday, the transfer portal for volleyball players was opened, leading to over 700 players entering it. Some of these athletes are highly skilled and could significantly shape the next season. While some may stick with their current teams, others are likely to seek new opportunities to strengthen their programs.
As of Wednesday, here are some of the standout players available in the transfer portal.
Starck contributed significantly to the Nittany Lions’ championship team in 2024, finishing as the top assist leader in the nation with 1,483 during her freshman year. She was recognized as both the Big Ten and AVCA National Freshman of the Year after an impressive debut. However, she only participated in four games this season before leaving Penn State, focusing on her mental health as she mentioned in a September Instagram post. Regardless, she remains a top setter and could shine wherever she chooses next.
Davis, a 6-foot-2 rookie who earned the Big 12 Freshman of the Year title, has made a name for herself this season, ranking ninth nationally with 521 total kills. In consecutive games against Utah and Arizona, she logged a remarkable 28 kills in each. With three years of eligibility left, she’s definitely a player to keep an eye on.
But Davis isn’t the only standout from her team in the portal. Bower, a sophomore setter, ranked seventh in the nation this season with 1,265 assists. She added 72 kills and 248 digs, earning her a spot on the first team All-Big 12.
Another talented setter, she was 14th in the nation, recording 1,190 assists while also contributing 45 kills. The North Carolina native made it to the second team All-Big 12.
This junior outside hitter registered 497 kills this season, ranking 22nd nationally. He also notched 34 service aces and 197 digs, landing him on the All-Big East First Team.
Kierstin Barton, WA
A first-team All-Big Ten selection, Barton recorded 402 kills this season, making her one of the conference’s leading outside hitters. As a 6-foot-1 junior, she averaged 3.65 kills per set for the Huskies.
Humphrey, a gifted middle blocker, was selected for the All-SEC Freshman Team after achieving 68 blocks and 75 kills in her inaugural season with the Volunteers. Reportedly, she is among seven Tennessee players who have entered the portal.
August, the 2024 SEC Freshman of the Year, accumulated 291 kills, 27 aces, 46 digs, and 15 solo blocks this season, earning All-SEC First Team honors.
Isabella Haggard, Market
Haggard, recognized as the Big East Freshman of the Year, had 88 kills, 997 assists, and 257 digs during her first season. The setter from Kentucky played a crucial role in helping Marquette reach the NCAA Tournament’s second round, where they faced Louisville.
Stuckey has participated in 95 games for the Gators over the last four years and enters the portal with one year of eligibility left. This season, she was named to the All-SEC Second Team, finishing with 73 kills, 1,062 assists, 22 aces, 249 digs, and 52 blocks—a versatile addition to any lineup.
Mambu was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team, recording 304 kills, 14 aces, and 111 digs during her season with the Yellow Jackets.
Anya Clinton, Kansas
Clinton, a junior outside hitter selected for the second team All-Big 12, achieved 351 kills, 22 aces, and 235 digs across 26 games this season.
Coleman, a former top-15 recruit, has also decided to enter the portal with three years of eligibility remaining after spending his freshman year at TCU. He made 27 appearances this season, garnering 102 kills, 18 aces, and 112 digs.
