Top emerging players for Steelers, Browns, Bengals, Ravens

The AFC North division is always intense, but it feels like the competition has ramped up this season. Aside from Baltimore, every team is eager to disprove critics and settle some narratives. The Steelers are making headlines with their veteran talent, hoping to push past the wildcard. The Bengals have significant questions on defense, but with one of the most lethal QB-WR duos in the league, they might still find success. Then there’s Cleveland, seemingly caught between focusing on 2025 and looking ahead to the 2026 draft.

So, how will these potential breakout players contribute to their teams’ ambitions? Here’s a closer look.

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens: CB Nate Wiggins

Shifting gears from the prior first-round picks, Wiggins has already shown promise in his rookie year, leading the Ravens in pass defenses. He ranked 17th among defenders in EPA per target. While he excelled in coverage, if he can convert those pass breakups into interceptions, he could have a breakout year in 2025. He managed just one interception last season, but he clearly has the potential to become a standout in Baltimore.

Cincinnati Bengals: CB DJ Turner

Finding a breakout player on the Bengals’ defense might be tricky, but I keep circling back to Turner. He ranked second on the team in pass breakups and was at the top among defenders in EPA per target. His athleticism really stands out, and I think Al Golden’s focus on player development could help amplify his contributions.

Cleveland Browns: WR Cedric Tillman

The Browns are in need of a reliable receiver opposite Jerry Judy, and I believe Tillman could fit that role. At times, his opportunities were limited due to the quarterback situation—there’s debate about how effective the QB really is. Tillman offers a different style than what’s currently on the roster, excelling at making contested catches on the outside. If he brings consistency to the boundary receiver position, it could elevate the entire offense.

Pittsburgh Steelers: RG Mason McCormick

I initially leaned toward Centerzac Frazier, but McCormick deserves recognition too. He’s on track to become one of the top centers in the league. His play may be under the radar, but it’s noticeable when he’s on the field. Known for “playing to the whistle,” he consistently wins his matchups, fitting the physical style of the Steelers. While he still needs to iron out some aspects of his pass protection, his progress suggests he could emerge as a key player in the offense.
