Week 7 of Waiver Wire Watch

The NFL is gearing up for another weekend, and it’s hard to believe we’re already a third of the way into the 2025 regular season. Last week showcased some strong defensive performances, and as we near the season’s midpoint, identifying solid defensive units is becoming more straightforward.

Here’s a look at the units from Week 6 that you might want to consider grabbing from the waiver wire ahead of Week 7. Just a quick note: we categorize exempt additions as players listed in up to 50% of the leagues.

Bye Weeks: Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills

Los Angeles Rams D/ST (44.5%)

The Rams secured a 17-3 win on the road against the struggling Ravens, improving their record to 4-2 for the season. It was a manageable day for the defense, facing off against Cooper Rush and Snoop Huntley. They scored 17 fantasy points, thanks to four sacks, two fumble recoveries, and an interception.

Finishing Week 6 as a top-five fantasy unit, the Rams are set to play in London against the Jaguars next Sunday. Given the unpredictability of international games, it wouldn’t be shocking if the Rams’ defense takes charge in this matchup.

Kansas City Chiefs D/ST (32.1%)

While the Chiefs weren’t flawless on Sunday, they did well to contain the explosive Lions offense, taking home a 31-17 victory. Over six games, the Chiefs’ defense has averaged 5.8 points, positioning them firmly in the middle tier of defenses. With Geno Smith’s propensity for turnovers—averaging three sacks a game—Kansas City’s D/ST could deliver strong points next week in Las Vegas.

Miami Dolphins D/ST (3.2%)

The atmosphere around the Dolphins continues to decline, both on and off the field, with big changes likely for the struggling 1-5 team. Their defense has notably underperformed, owning the worst EPA in the league, and they lost 29-27 to the Chargers last Sunday. However, there’s a glimmer of hope with their upcoming match against a lackluster Browns offense led by Dillon Gabriel. Given the matchup, I’m willing to take a chance on streaming Miami D/ST this week, but only this week.
