A new study reveals which American cities are the best places to ring in the New Year, and some spots may surprise you.
WalletHub released its list of the most fun and affordable cities in the United States after conducting research across all 50 states in the categories of entertainment and dining, cost, safety, and accessibility.
“Celebrating New Year's Eve in the right city can turn the holiday into a truly magical experience,” WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said in a press release.

“The best cities for New Year's celebrations have clear skies and host the best fireworks displays,” Lupo said.

He added: “Top cities are home to a wealth of highly rated, affordable dining options, vibrant nightlife and plenty of activities to make the start of the new year a memorable one. ” he added.
More than 128 million people will travel for the holidays this year, and 65% of them will drive to their destination, according to the report.
