Madden NFL 27 Countdown Is On
NFL training camps are kicking off, which means the anticipation for the newest Madden NFL installment is heating up, too. Madden NFL 27 is just a couple of weeks away from its release, and already, the debate over player ratings is beginning to bubble.
On Wednesday, EA Sports unveiled the latest player ratings, spotlighting the top quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers. Reigning MVP Matthew Stafford and Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen topped the list of quarterbacks, both securing a spot in the prestigious 99 Club. However, it’s worth noting that while both players shared the top rating, Stafford snagged the higher ranking in this category.
Following them, Joe Burrow came in third with a score of 97, and Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson followed suit. Patrick Mahomes found himself fifth with a rating of 93, while Jared Goff from the Detroit Lions also made the top ten with an 88.
In the wide receiver category, Jamar Chase and Jackson Smith-Njigba made the 99 Club alongside defensive end Myles Garrett and tight end Trey McBride.
After clinching their second Super Bowl in February, the Seattle Seahawks secured a four-year contract extension for Smith-Njigba, making him the highest-paid receiver in NFL history. Meanwhile, Chase has been impressive, crossing the 1,000-yard receiving mark in every season since entering the league in 2021.
As for the remaining top wide receivers, Puka Nacua, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Justin Jefferson filled out the top five, while Mike Evans, now with the San Francisco 49ers after leaving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, secured the tenth spot.
On the running backs’ front, Detroit’s Jahmyl Gibbs led with a 98 overall rating. The list continued with Christian McCaffrey at a 97 following a strong season, Jonathan Taylor at 95, and Bijan Robinson landing fourth. Rams’ Kyren Williams completed the top ten.
Caleb Williams may be the face of Madden NFL 27, but the Chicago Bears quarterback is eyeing a spot in the 99 Club. Recently, he expressed that improving his completion percentage is crucial to achieving that goal. “If I can improve my completion percentage, I can get to 99 points,” he stated. “That’s how everyone feels about it. I don’t throw picks; I’m just looking to get more touchdowns while keeping my interceptions down.”
Madden NFL 27 is set to launch globally on August 13, with MVP+ members able to access it up to seven days earlier.
On the team ratings side, the Rams earned the highest overall rating at 93.
