Week 12 Quarterback Waiver Wire Watch
Hey there! The NFL weekend has wrapped up, so watching games isn’t really an option. But Thanksgiving is just around the corner, which means the fantasy playoffs are on the horizon. It’s time to start gearing up for the postseason.
Let’s talk about a few quarterbacks you might want to scoop up from the waiver wire as we approach Week 12. Remember, we’re keeping an eye on players who are rostered in up to 60% of leagues.
Week 12 Bye Teams
Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins, Washington Commanders
Bryce Young, QB, Carolina Panthers (18.0%)
Young had what might be his best game yet, leading the Panthers to a thrilling 30-27 overtime win against the Falcons. After briefly sitting out due to an ankle injury, he still managed to throw for a career-high 448 yards and three touchdowns. There’s hope that he’s starting to connect more with players like Tett McMillan and Xavier Leggett. In OT, a 54-yard pass to Tommy Tremble set up the game-winner.
And with the Buccaneers faltering lately, it’s quite possible that the Panthers could grab the top spot in the NFC South by the end of Week 12. Statistically, he’s not at the top, but who knows? If he can keep this momentum going, perhaps he’ll be a valuable addition on your team.
Week 12 matchups: @ San Francisco 49ers, 8:15 PM ET (Monday night)
Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars (33.6%)
Lawrence, another former No. 1 pick, guided the Jaguars to a 35-6 victory over the Chargers. His performance included one passing touchdown, one rushing touchdown, an interception, and 153 yards. It’s not the flashiest stat line, but it’s pretty much what we’ve come to expect from him this season.
As I noted last week, he may not single-handedly win you games, but he can be a valuable asset if you have stronger players around him. Picking him up could be a smart play, especially with some other options struggling.
Week 12 matchups: @ Arizona Cardinals, 4:05 PM ET
Jacoby Brissett, QB, Arizona Cardinals (19.6%)
Things didn’t go well for the Cardinals; they lost 41-22 against the 49ers. However, Brissett did make a mark, throwing for 478 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He even set a record for completions in a game. The Cardinals seem to be in a position where they might be playing from behind quite often, which could pave the way for Brissett to rack up fantasy points during garbage time.
Since stepping in for Kyler Murray, his numbers have been decent—over 1,500 yards, ten touchdowns, and three interceptions in five starts. It’s hard to say if he’ll attempt as many passes as he did on Sunday, but even being challenged by his coach might actually help future fantasy managers.
Week 12 matchups: vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, 4:05 p.m. ET
Sam Darnold, QB, Seattle Seahawks (43.5%)
Oh boy, the version of Darnold that had fans talking a few years back resurfaced on Sunday, throwing four interceptions in a close 21-19 loss to the Rams. Still, he almost led the game-winning drive, only to have the field goal miss at the last moment.
Sure, he’s cooled off lately, but he’s still a decent fantasy quarterback, with three performances over 20 points this season. And believe it or not, sometimes a matchup against a weaker team can get a quarterback back on track. He’ll get his shot against the Titans this week, which might be just what he needs.
Week 12 matchups: @ Tennessee Titans, 1 PM ET (Monday night)
